I removed the DW1501 card as per the service manual instructions. Using the Windows 10 Ookla SpeedTest app on Bell Fibe with the DW1501 card my download speed was 36.76 and uploads 39.11 Mbps. I sought a WiFi card that has built-in Bluetooth, works in Windows 10 and Linux Mint 20.1, and hopefully is faster. This isn't the fault of its DW1501 WiFi card because the Bluetooth Assembly is separately installed on the front panel, and isn't supported in Windows 10. My Dell XPS-8300 Bluetooth stopped working after upgrading to Windows 10. Also, whenever I reboot, the DW1501 drivers automatically re-install.ĭoes anyone know how to remove the DW1501 from the motherboard? I think(hope) the remaining problems will be solved if I actually removed the DW1501 from the motherboard. The frequency of these errors is now low but is extant. Also, I've unplugged the black and white wires that connect the DW1501 to the power supply. I've disabled the DW1501 and uninstalled the drivers. The customer support line at TP-Link said the problem was the system sometimes confuses adapters and sends the data to the DW1501 even when the USB based wi-fi is the one which is selected. In these situations, the link to the router is usually strong but is loses the internet. The speed is fine but occasionally it misses packets for anywhere from 2 seconds to several minutes. I have Cox internet and when I run Speedtest, it shows anywhere from 15-40 M bits down and 6-15 M bits up. The signal strength was immediately healed it now shows 5 bars versus the former 1-2 bars in our new home. I bought a TP-Link TL-WN822N, which is a high gain USB wi-fi antenna system. After reading the posts on various forums, I decided to replace the DW1501. In our previous home, even when the XPS 8300 was directly adjacent to the router, even touching, the best reception displayed was 4 bars and now it is 1-2 bars. My wife & I recently moved to a location where my computer is farther from the router than it used to be. I want it done so I can get help with BIOS passwords.I have a Dell XPS 8300 that contains a DW1501 Wireless-N Half-Mini card. I need to see how I fared with the Unknown eBay transfer as I didn't get a Dell EMC eMail yet, but since I have my foot in I can wait a month (give or take), call in again and make it happen. Normally I may not fix such an issue when I have 2, but this 2nd one had the W10 upgrade which is a huge deal especially since I need to get a new drive for the first one, install Win7 and then hope it's still available for free. If I can get away without messing with the frame that's even better, but I'm not holding my breath :(. If it's indiscriminate, I just need to remember to remove the BT module. I have to change the subframe anyway bc someone managed to strip the freaking screw hole the bottom cover uses (beyond repair it kind of holds but the bottom cover is visibly loose and has stayed without manual intervention), so I need to remove it for repairs and maintenance anyway. I think the BIOS is indiscriminate about disabling devices. I also suspect it’s like the ath9k cards where they just do not work well in Windows Yeah. I can probably troubleshoot it, but the spotty 5GHz support is why I’m just going to replace it and not go too far with making it work. Would it be possible to leave the module installed, and just remove the driver so I can change the bad card out or would it be better to disconnect it and cover the wire with Kapton tape so it can’t cause issues? Eventually the module will be removed entirely, but I’m going to wait until I service the cooling system since it isn’t a 10 minute job. I’m thinking the best way to deal with this is to change the DW1501 out and disconnect the DW375 module, unless both can coexist as the only way to fully get rid of it is to remove the bottom subframe. I am still going to get the other one going, but this second one is worth keeping around. However, the Intel 7260AC has integrated Bluetooth while the DW375 is a dedicated module as the old Broadcom cards do not have integrated Bluetooth. The wireless card is giving me some trouble and I have a Intel 7260AC I can install from a failed laptop and fix the wireless once and for all. This 2nd one has the DW1501 (BCM94313HMG2L) and DW375 BT module (BCM90270MD). I have another E6220 I ended up getting once I found out how much the batteries and charger cost - which came with what I needed and an extra battery.
